The 2nd Macau Asian Art Film Festival Concludes; Malcolm Clarke Reveals New Project: Young Actress Lily Huang Locks Lead Role in His First Chinese-language Feature Film
On May 22, the 2nd Macau Asian Art Film Festival officially concluded in Macau. Malcolm Clarke, two-time Oscar winner and chairman of the international jury for the festival's main competition section "Golden Seagull Award", attended the award ceremony and revealed the upcoming creative plans of his team on site.
During the festival, director Malcolm Clarke and young actress Lily Huang (Lily Huang) attended the red carpet ceremony together. Malcolm Clarke officially announced on site that Huang has been confirmed to star as the female lead in his first Chinese-language feature film.
This currently in-development project is the first narrative feature film directed by Malcolm Clarke in China. This transition from documentary to narrative drama also represents an entirely new exploration of narrative filmmaking for his creative team.
Regarding the casting of this new project, Malcolm Clarke shared that to find the actress that best fit the character on screen, the casting process was extremely rigorous, with preparation spanning several months. Young actress Lily Huang ultimately stood out from the extensive selection process and won this important role.
With the successful conclusion of the 2nd Macau Asian Art Film Festival, this highly anticipated China-UK co-production has officially stepped into the public eye. Currently, the early preparatory work of the film is progressing smoothly, and director Malcolm Clarke will collaborate with emerging local Chinese creators to jointly develop and present a dramatic story about modern China.
